Bioshock 2 DLC 'The Protector Trials'

The third piece of DLC for Bioshock 2 has now been released and focuses entirely on single player content.

According to 2K, it leans towards fast paced gameplay, and you need to be a master of plasmids and weapons as well as have a good strategy to succeed.

It costs 400 points on XBL and $4.99 on PSN.

Metro 2033 finally gets some DLC

Metro 2033 came out on the Xbox 360 and PC in March this year, but is only now getting some downloadable goodies, and not a substantial amount, either.

The game's developer, 4A Games, have announced the Ranger Pack, available August 3rd on Xbox Live and Steam.

The DLC contains all they usual suspects like new achievements worth an extra 250G, new weapons, and the new Ranger Mode: - In standard Ranger Mode, ammo is dramatically reduced and all weapons cause more damage. Your foes are deadlier than ever – but so are you! - so says the blurb on their website. Another mode, Ranger Hardcore add's another sting in the tail of the player, as it totally removies the HUD, making it harder to judge your health and whereabouts.

Download the pack Aug 3rd on Xbox Live for 240 points, and on Steam for the princely sum, of nothing.

Sony confirms gamescon press conference for Aug 17

Mark your calanders or put the date in that fluffy pink diary of yours - you know, the one with the lock.

Sony have confirmed their press conference at this years Gamescon event in Cologne, will be held on August 17, which smacks on a Tuesday.

The event kicks off at 6pm CET, that's 5pm British.

They've also announced the first bunch of games which will be at the Germany show, presumably in playable form on the show floor:

• Killzone 3
• Gran Turismo 5
• inFamous 2
• LittleBigPlanet 2
• DC Universe Online
• Journey
• Motorstorm: Apocalypse
• Sorcery

So get your guesswork in now as to what Sony may or may not announce at the presser. PSP 2? Some news on Agent? PlayStation Network stuff? Personally I'm going for all of those, plus time travel device. Remember it was at the 2009 event that Sony unveiled the much anticipated slimmer PS3, so its always one to watch out for.

So far there's no word if Microsoft will also make a significant appearence at the show, but it has been confirmed that Fat Face have totally run out of LED equipped Poncho's, so its a possibility.

Alan Wake DLC now out

The first piece of DLC for Alan Wake, 'The Signal' is now out on the Xbox Marketplace. 

If you bought the collectors edition, there is a code inside the box to get it for free, if not then it will set you back 560 points. 

If they put the effort into 'The Signal' as they did the full game, it will definitely be worth the points.  Go get it now guys!

Microsoft pull 1 vs 100 - free swag lovers shed a tear

Microsoft has confirmed that the multiplayer quiz 1 vs 100 will not be returning to Xbox Live, and subsequently there will not be a 3rd season.

When we started on this journey, we knew we were creating an entirely new genre of entertainment that would be a continually evolving concept," said Dave McCarthy, Microsoft Game Studios, General Manager. "We're very proud of the ‘1 vs 100' team and their accomplishments, and are excited to apply what we've learned to future programming."

Apparently the team behind 1 vs 100 are working on future content for Xbox Live using the skills learned from the game.

Sony announce mega huge Eurogamer line-up

Going to the Eurogamer Expo in October? Then Sony has something to wet your appetite when you get there. This morning, EG has announced Sony's line up for the expo, including playable demos of the big hitters such as Killzone 3, inFamous 2, and Gran Turismo 5.

As well as that, SOCOM 4, LittleBigPlanet 2 and MotorStorm Apocalypse will also be there for you to get a hold of.

Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 3 and MotorStorm Apocalypse will all be available in 3D. But don't worry, you won't look silly in the glasses. Everyone will be wearing them.

In addition, PlayStation Move will make a big appearance too, with playable versions of The Shoot, The Fight, Sports Champions and Heavy Rain - all using the upcoming motion tech. There will also be three first party developer sessions during the expo, - Guerrilla Games on Killzone 3, Media Molecule on LittleBigPlanet 2 and Evolution Studios on Motorstorm Apocalypse.

Retail Giant Tesco Drops Price of Xbox 360 Slim

Tesco have decided to stand by there 'Every Little Helps' slogan by offering the new Xbox 360 for £189 instead of the £200 RRP that everywhere is selling it at.

All pre-orders up to Thursday the 15th (that's this Thursday guys!) will be delivered on release, Friday the 16th.

However could this mean that other supermarkets or retail stores wil be following suit and slashing the price? I guess we will find out extremely soon.

GTA Vice City oddly rated by Aussie ratings board [UPDATE]

UPDATE: According to VG247, Rockstar has confirmed the listing was related to the PC version of the game, and nothing to do with a re-release. Apparently, they just re rated the game for record purposes. We haz said face.

Strange things are strange.

The OFLC, Australia's ratings board has given Grand Theft Auto: Vice City a 15+ rating, eight years after its release on PS2.

The listing, which you can see below, describes the game as 'Modified', which leads us to believe its not just a carbon re-hash of, quite frankly, one of the greatest games of all time.

Sony have recently asked the PlayStation community which classic PS2 games they would like to see beefed up in HD with Trophies and all the other modern jazz, with Vice City being a big contender. Is this it? Or is it going to be a PSN/XBLA deal instead? Or maybe, just maybe, are we starting to see some GTA V movement? Stay tuned for more.

FIFA 11 Release Date

The biggest sport game of the year will be released on all consoles and platforms, these being, XBox 360, PS3, Wii, PC, PS2, DS, PSP and mobiles.

It is released in North America on the 28th September and in Europe and Asia on the 1st October.

Be ready for a lot of information to be coming soon as apparently only "20%" of the games features have been revealed so far.

CCR to Hit Rock Band

MTV Games and Harmonix have today announced that Creedance Clearwater Revival will next week be arriving to Rock Band.

'Creedance Clearwater Revival Pack 1) will hit the Live Marketplace on July 6th and a day later on the European PSN, at 99p (160 MSP) a track or £9.99 (1600 MSP) for the whole song pack.

The tracks included in the song pack are all master recordings and are as follows:

Bioshock 2's 'Protector Trials' Announced

Upcoming DLC to 2K's sprawling epic Bioshock 2 will thrust the player back into the shoes of the Big Daddy.The single player DLC comes as a welcome respite after the two previous parts of downloadable content were multiplayer only.

The content pits you and your full arsenal against waves of splicers, as you strive to keep your Little Sister alive.

Christoph Hartmann said that the release of this will mark the beginning of an effort to provide Bioshock 2 with more single player content.

The DLC will touch down August 3rd at a very decent 400 MSP, it will also feature new achievements.

Aliens vs. Predator DLC Detailed

The 'Bughunt Map Pack' featuring 4 new levels will soon be arriving for Sega's Aliens vs. Predator. Two of the maps will be for Deathmatch, Species Deathmatch, Predator Hunt, Infestation, Mixed Species Deathmatch and Domination. Whilst the other two will be reserved for the Survival gametype.

The maps will feature new environmental hazards and weather patterns, promising for a more diverse multiplayer experience and keep people still playing this game engrossed.

Expect to see the map pack on the 7th of July priced at 560 MSP.

Playstation Plus Launches Today

Playstation Plus launched today, it is the new subscription based service for the Playstation Network.

The service was announced at E3 at the beginning of the month at the Sony Press Conference.  It offers subscribers exclusive content, Beta invitations, PSN games, games on demand and discounts in the PS Store.

There are two subscription packs you can choose from, the 12 month, or the 90 days packs.  12 months will cost you £39.99 and 3 months is £11.99.

For all you people that aren't going to sign up and are worried you will lose features you have at the moment, don't worry, you will lose no features, the subscription just gives people new features.

Dead Rising 2 gets delayed

Capcom has confirmed Dead Rising 2 has been delayed by a month in Europe and the US.

For Europe, the previous September 3rd date has been slapped on its zombie - mutated head, and the game will now ship on October 1st. In the US, the game now gets a release date of September 28th.

There were no reasons given for the delay, but its not much of one in any case.

The game is out on PS3, 360 and PC.

Last.fm heading to PSN?

According to an article on CVG, social music service Last.fm could be heading to the PS3 in the future, as its current availability on Xbox 360 has been revealed as a timed exclusive, which is set to expire this November.

2 million Xbox Live users signed up to Last.fm when it launched on the 360 last year, making it an extrememly successful venture. Now, word on the street is that Last.fm would like a couple more million users, in the shape of PSN.

Speaking to OXM, Last.fm boss, Orlena Yeung, hinted at new features for Last.fm on the console saying:

“There is a nice parallel between the community-driven experience at Last.FM and the gamer community on Xbox Live. I think we can create more experience where users are socialising their music taste across gaming and music. We will see…”

The bigger picture here, isn't the fact its Last.fm. With PlayStation Plus, Sony's new premium subscription package for PSN launching next week, will all future expansions and services be only made available to PS+ subscribers,- much like Xbox Live Gold? Will Sony's plan to keep online multiplayer free, be balanced out by offering other content only available via subscription? Time will tell.

A stunning Day and Night with Gran Turismo 5

Yes. E3 finally gave us the news we wanted. Gran Turismo 5 will ship for PS3 on November 2nd in the US, with a EU release still to be announced.

Some very nice footage was shown of the racer, as well as the usual but very good looking slew of screenshots. E3 starts now - First Killzone 3 footage lands

And its pretty awesome indeed.

GameTrailers TV aired a pre-E3 special last night, and among other things, showed off the first proper in game footage of PS3 shooter Killzone 3, footage will you can see now.

The video shows off the new brutal melee combat system, the jetpacks, the new environments and well, just check out the thing for yourself. It's looking pretty good.

MotorStorm Apocalypse gets official, brings us screenshots

Evolution Studios have officially announced MotorStorm Apocalypse, for PlayStation 3.

Speaking on the PlayStation Blog, game director Matt Southern detailed the off road racer, which this time, takes place in an abandoned City similar to that of San Fransico, after a giant tremor decimates the place. Perfect place for some racing, then!

The game includes -

• Sixteen player online multiplayer.
• Four player split-screen.
• Combinations of the two. Play with three friends in the living room against 12 more online.
• Massive vehicle customisation. Change vinyls, vehicle parts, vehicle shapes and more. Upload them to the community site and share them with others. They automatically work on all vehicle types, and include your PSN ID.
• Vehicle perks. Modify your handling, boosting and offensive abilities as you unlock new perks.
• A wealth of rankings to progess through online with associated rewards and recognition.
• Stacks of online rewards to earn and persistent progress giving the most determined and successful racers the status and recognition they deserve.
• Persistent matchmaking. Keep your party together throughout your gaming session.
• A Game Mode Creator. From a completely blank canvas you can design your own game rules and victory conditions, play them online, and incorporate them into tournaments.
