GTA V & Saints Row 3 At E3

Just as were about to start this new decade off with a bang with Army of Two: 40th Day and Mass Effect 2 coming out in the following weeks, the internet is already looking at E3. E3 is scheduled to be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Even though nearly a dozen AAA titles are supposed to be released before then, here is some off the speculation of what might be shown.

Saints Row 3
Danny Bilson, THQ Head of Core Gaming, thinks that Saints Row 3 will be "crazy". Its been widely known that Saints Row 3 was always intended to be a trilogy. With the newest installment most likely focusing on the protagonist working to track down Dex Jackson, in a new city besides Stillwater. The third installment was announced in April of last year (as well as Red Faction 4). Bilson was recently interviewed by Game Informer where he stated excitedly that he couldn't wait to show their progress at E3.

GTA V
While not definitely confirmed by anyone at Rockstar, Jesse Divinch a man who reportedly works for a company that represents Rockstar and Take Two, made an offhand remark about the chance of a new installment to the widely popular GTA series, being shown at E3. Divinch stated to Game Informer magazine that “I think we’re going to hear about another Grand Theft Auto. I think there won’t be any playable. I think they’ll give you some type of teaser, because we do think that a year from then in 2011 we’re going to see another Grand Theft Auto.”

Kane & Lynch 2 Dog Days
While already officially revealed with a trailer and some screenshots, no playable footage has yet come forward to the media. Making it most likely that IO interactive are saving it for E3 allowing them to still have a winter release as reportedly planned. The new game switches the lead this time, with the player taking control of the "self-medicated psychopath" Lynch who has settled down in Shanghai. With Kane coming in to help Lynch on one last deal to "make a fat deal where the pay is beyond his wildest dreams and nothing is going to get in his way."

With two major franchises getting sequels and another that looks set to surpass the first one in every way E3 could definitely be exciting. Major Nelson also told Inside Gaming that “Microsoft’s E3 announcements will be f****** unbelievable”. Is this the rise of E3 again after somewhat mediocre past shows. It looks set to be, as the question being asked is not what will be there, but what wont.
