Mass Effect 3 in development

BioWare’s Christina Norman has been teasing her followers and Mass Effect fans alike with news of a third game. She confirmed the news on Twitter, of course, that she was working on something called 'Project Wombat' - similar to 'Project Sasquatch' which turned out to be Mass Effect 2's ammo system.

She tweeted:

ME3 Trivia: Today I started work on "Project Wombat" for Mass Effect 3.

No idea what Wombat could be in Mass Effect 3, but we now have some confirmation a third game is on the way. Norman wouldn't say either only further adding: "Wow a lot of speculation on what Project Wombat is. Sorry I can’t say! I can say the name has nothing to do with the project"

The first game came out in 2007 to critical acclaim, followed by a sequel in January of this year. There were rumblings of the third being in development in January straight after Mass Effect 2 shipped, but now we have the word from an actual developer on the game.

Hot stuff, eh?
